The Awful Scheme to Blanket Recess-Appoint Trump’s Cabinet Officers
One theme that will emerge from my Confirmation Tales posts over time is that Senate Democrats took significant steps to escalate the judicial-confirmation wars without giving careful consideration to the long-term consequences of those steps.
To leap immediately to the present: As someone who very much wants President-elect Donald Trump to succeed, I am very concerned that folks advising him are repeating this same error. I have spent much of the past week addressing the many flaws in Trump’s plan to try to force the Senate into recess in order to blanket recess-appoint his Cabinet officers. I invite you to read my writings linked below, all of which appeared on National Review Online’s Bench Memos, with the exception of the one in the Washington Post.
